A hotel that looks central on a map isn't always within easy walking distance. It's worth checking the actual distance to the places you plan to visit.
Check-in and check-out times
Hotels set their own check-in and check-out windows, which can affect your plans on arrival and departure day, especially around early or late flights.
Identification, deposits and payment on arrival
Most hotels ask for identification at check-in and may take a deposit or a card pre-authorisation to cover incidentals, on top of any amount already paid online.

A refundable rate usually costs more but can be changed or cancelled up to a deadline. A non-refundable rate is typically cheaper but offers little or no flexibility.
Pay now versus pay at the property
Some rates are charged in full at the time of booking, while others let you pay at the property. Check which applies before you compare prices between providers.

Check the maximum occupancy, bed configuration and any child occupancy rules for a room, as these can vary between hotels and between providers for the same hotel.

Booking directly with a hotel and booking through a booking provider can have different terms. Whichever you choose controls availability, amendments, cancellations and refunds, so check the cancellation deadline and who to contact if your plans change.
